World Autism Day - Monday 27th March 2017
Strand schools have decided to join the thousands of people across the world who wear blue in honour of the millions of individuals and families affected by autism. We will be celebrating World Autism Day on Monday 27th March as this is a charity very close to our hearts and our school community, having recently opened our Swan Centre in 2015. ‘Light It Up Blue’ is a unique global campaign to increase understanding and acceptance of autism. Thousands of iconic landmarks and buildings join the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities around the world to “Light It Up Blue” in support of people living with autism. If you require a large print copy of this letter please contact the office This letter is available on the Strand website www.strandjuniors.co.uk We are inviting all students to come dressed in blue clothes on Monday or just wear one item of blue to show their support. Autism-friendly assemblies and educational activities will be taking place throughout the day to increase understanding and acceptance and further support people with autism. In the afternoon Otter class will be selling bags of candy which the students have put together for £1 to raise money for the National Autistic Society.
